Leilac is proud to share that its Direct Air Capture (DAC) partner, Heirloom, has successfully completed a US$150 million Series B funding round. This significant achievement highlights the growing global recognition of innovative carbon removal technologies as vital solutions to combat climate change.
A Transformative Partnership
As Heirloom’s exclusive global partner, Leilac provides the critical heating and CO2 separation step for its limestone-based DAC process through our advanced electric calcination technology. This partnership exemplifies how industry-leading solutions have the potential to efficiently address critical climate challenges, enabling scalable and sustainable carbon dioxide removal at the gigatonne scale.
Direct Air Capture is poised to play a crucial role in meeting global climate targets, with up to 10 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide removal required annually. Together, Leilac and Heirloom are working on two DAC projects in Louisiana, supported by the U.S. Department of Energy and the Louisiana State Government, while continuing to explore global opportunities.
Building Confidence in Climate Solutions
Heirloom CEO, Shashank Samala said,

“Heirloom’s Direct Air Capture scales based on its ability to become incredibly low cost. Our unique approach uses limestone, a naturally occurring cheap mineral, as a sponge for CO2 which is handled by smart robots. Leilac units then efficiently separate the clean CO2 from the sponge. This unique system sets us up to become the lowest cost DAC solution. Together with Leilac we are working to address legacy and unavoidable CO2 emissions”
Leilac CEO, Daniel Rennie, highlighted the importance of this collaboration:

“We congratulate Heirloom on this significant milestone. As their exclusive DAC partner, we are proud to provide the technology to support their groundbreaking work. Our combined efforts are designed to enable efficient and scalable carbon dioxide removal, critical for addressing global climate challenges and achieving net-zero goals.”
The diverse and global participants in the funding round further underscores the rapid emergence of carbon compliance markets in regions such as Japan and Europe, bipartisan support in the United States, and the growing role of DAC in decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors like shipping and aviation.
Driving Sustainable Innovation
By combining Heirloom’s innovative DAC approach with Leilac’s proven technology, we are accelerating the transition to a sustainable, net-zero future.
