Leilac was honoured to be invited to speak at the 2025 International Carbon Emissions Reduction Forum of the Building Materials Industry, held in Beijing on 23 July 2025.

Organised by the China Building Materials Federation (CBMF) and the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA), the conference brought together policymakers, global industry leaders, financial institutions and major cement producers to discuss the future of carbon reduction in building materials.

Yan Xiaofeng, President of CBMF, opened the forum by affirming China’s direction:

“The Chinese cement industry has already achieved its carbon peak as scheduled and is now moving steadily toward carbon neutrality… The global trend toward green and low-carbon transformation is irreversible.”

Speakers from UNIDO, GCCA, ECRA, VDZ and others offered insights into:

  • China’s entry into the national carbon trading market
  • Cement labelling and certification standards
  • Policy developments in Japan, Canada and Europe
  • Global progress in capture technologies including amine-based systems, oxyfuel, and Chinese demonstration plants

Leilac CEO Daniel Rennie was invited to present how Leilac’s unique indirect heating technology is designed not only to enable efficient CO₂ capture, but to deliver stackable benefits for producers:

  • Electrification and hybrid-fuel flexibility
  • Participation in grid services and demand-side energy response
  • Operational debottlenecking and process optimisation

We thank CBMF and GCCA for the opportunity to contribute to such a significant and forward-looking global dialogue.
